CHICAGO — A new invoice has been launched in Springfield to make so-named “ghost guns” unlawful, aiming to crack down on a mainly unregulated marketplace.
The legislation would make it unlawful to very own a gun devoid of a corresponding serial number, which ghost guns do not have.
The transfer, order, manufacture, importation and possession of ghost guns unlawful, charging a misdemeanor for the initial offense and a felony for a 2nd offense.
Chicago police seized 455 ghost guns in 2021, more than two times the amount of money seized in New York City last calendar year. Specified procedures would have to be adopted for guns to be printed with a 3D printer.
Point out Agent Kam Buckner is spearheading the endeavours to go the legislation, noting that ghost gun kits are unregulated, affordable and deliberately untraceable.
